Now that Tré’s apartment is coming together and we have been getting the key pieces to the place, it is time to get down to the specifics and look into some ideas for accessorizing the apartment to really help it transform into a home. Based on what we have purchased so far, the theme is pretty neutral because all the furniture we purchased is brown. Now the next few tasks we discussed is: add some color to the space, incorporate some artwork on the walls, and make the space feel more homey. We did a walk-through of the house and came up with a couple ideas to help guide us to the next steps for his apartment transformation. Based off of Tré’s budget, we have agreed that we have gotten all of his essential pieces, so the rest of the furnishing can be on a rolling basis.
- Rugs
Tré’s apartment is all wood floors, so incorporating some rugs into the space can really help to add some warmth and coziness. Since there isn’t any color in the living room so far, we decided that we want the rug to be a statement piece so we really want to find a rug that incorporates his favorite color pink.
2. Gallery Wall
Tré is very family oriented, so incorporating his family into his home is really important to him. The first piece of artwork that we put up on the wall was a portrait of his grandfather who had passed away. Tré eventually wants to add a portrait gallery wall in the hallway with all his important family members.
3. Final Furniture Pieces
We got all of our necessary furniture pieces, but there are still a couple more things to get. We need to get a coffee table and TV stand to finish off the living room, and Tré really wants to get a bookshelf to help store all of his things.
4. Curtains, Pillows, Throws
In order to make the home feel even more complete those final touches are key. Adding some curtains and pillows can help to really spice up a space. Tré’s place has extremely high ceilings and a beautiful big window, some window treatments would help make the window even more of a focal point. Currently, the couch has no pillows on it, so purchasing some soft pillows will instantly make the place more cozy.
